About Rebecca J. Kim, M.D.
I am an academic hospitalist who emphasizes building trusting relationships with my patients through compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based care. I was drawn to medicine by a desire to help people feel seen, heard and understood during some of their most vulnerable moments. I believe in a collaborative approach to healthcare – one that respects your voice and empowers you with knowledge and support to make educated decisions about your health. My professional interests include hospital operations, quality and process improvement, transitions of care, and healthcare innovation through use of AI.
Dr. Rebecca Kim earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, where she was a scholar in the Underserved Pathway program. She then completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She brings a strong foundation in both clinical care and systems-based thinking to her practice, shaped by her early professional experiences in healthcare operations and patient support.
Clinically, Dr. Kim is passionate about evidence-based, patient-centered care, with particular interests in healthcare delivery and health equity. Her academic work reflects this focus—she has led projects that span from addressing provider burnout and reduction of hospital acquired conditions, to the use of generative AI for EMR optimization. She has presented her work at national conferences, including the Society of Hospital Medicine and the Society of General Internal Medicine, where she was recognized as a National Young Scholar.
She has authored peer-reviewed articles in The Journal of Hospital Medicine, The Journal of General Internal Medicine, The American Journal of Gastroenterology, and CHEST, among others. She is also deeply involved in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing documentation standards, optimization of EHR systems to address patient safety, and digital communication workflows within hospital systems.Academically, Dr. Kim is committed to fostering inclusive clinical environments and advocating for underserved populations. She has held numerous leadership roles in medical education, mentorship, and community health, and has served on several professional committees. Fluent in Korean, she brings a culturally responsive lens to her work and remains dedicated to advancing both patient care and health system improvement.
